Thermography, or raised printing, involves a special powder which is added to the ink during printing. It is then heated (baked in an oven) until the powder and ink dry to form a raised effect on the paper. The biggest difference between thermography and flat printing is in the shine & texture that can be seen & felt. As with flat printing, any combination of Pantone colors may be used as well as special metallics, such as gold and silver. Thermography is similar in appearance to engraving. Thermography can be combined with most other printing processes including: foil-stamping, embossing or debossing. It is the number one choice for a powerful textural piece.
